PRAYER FOR THE AGED

"Lord, Thou knowest better than I know myself that I am growing older and will someday be old.

"Keep me from getting talkative and particularly from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every occasion.

"Release me from craving to try to straighten out everybody's affairs.

"Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details---give me wings to get to the point.

"I ask for grace enough to listen to the tales of others pains.  Help me to endure them with patience.

"But seal my lips on my own aches and pains--they are increasing and my love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by.

"Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally it is possible that I may be mistaken.

"Keep me reasonably sweet; I do not want to be a saint--some of them are so hard to live with--but a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil.

"Make me thoughtful, but not moody; helpful, but not bossy.  With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all --but Thou knowest, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end.

Palo Duro Canyon Senior Trip - Overnight

The Senior Adult Ministry is looking forward to about 36 hours packed with fellowship, fun, and travel. While this is typically for those 60+ we are opening it to all those interested. The deadline is June 9th for signing up. We still have about 15 spots available.

The dates are June 19-20 and the cost is $140 per person which covers transportation, hotel, museum, and Texas Show.  I’m told that the show is outstanding with most of the singing done acappella. The destination is Palo Duro Canyon which is an unexpected delight located just south of Amarillo TX. It is often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of Texas.

For more detail contact me, Dane Carr, Ruth Honeycutt, Katie Rayner or the church office at 405-341-3353.

Funeral Meals

New Procedure to volunteer to provide food for funerals

Starting now volunteers for future funeral meals will be contacted by email. It will give you all the information you need and an opportunity to sign up for the item you choose to bring. Receiving an e-mail doesn't mean you have to bring food but gives you the opportunity to volunteer if you wish. It also allows you to choose the item you would prefer to bring. Not everyone will need to bring food every time.

If you are on our current list of volunteers and the church has your email; you should have received one informing you of this on Tuesday.

If you have email but did not receive a message or if you do not have email but would like to be included, please contact Ron or Bev Pearman or the church office.  We will be happy to add you to the group. Thanks so much for your participation!!
